Clinical Significance

C-reactive protein is an acute-phase protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation.

Test Principle

The test uses anti-human CRP monoclonal antibodies conjugated with colloidal gold and anti-human CRP antibodies coated on the test strip.

When the sample is added, CRP in the specimen binds with the labeled antibodies forming antigen-antibody complexes. These complexes migrate along the membrane and are captured by the detection line.

The FIA8000 analyzer measures the signal intensity and calculates the CRP concentration in the sample.
